If a full-blown business system is not your cup of tea, there are ways to make money from home that don’t require a lot of setup. You can get paid to fill out surveys online for cash. 1. Why would a company pay me to fill out a survey?

     For decades major manufacturers and ad companies have been spending millions each year on “focus groups” to help them discover exactly what it is that consumers are looking for in a product. Then the company would bring everyone into a room, provide them with coffee and donuts, and spend a few hours asking them questions and getting them to fill out questionnaires. This is a very expensive proposition.
     The Internet changed all that. No more mailings or phone calls. No more coffee and donuts. No more travel vouchers or room rentals. By asking consumers to fill out surveys online, the companies are actually SAVING a ton of money.

2. Will my personal information be stolen?

     There are companies out there who are little more than scammers. Their sole intention is to collect and sell personal information. These scammers will usually promise great prizes in exchange for taking a short survey. In reality they are selling your information to a third party, and have no intention of giving away anything.

The “Work At Home” Ideas That Don’t Work!

You lost your job and have a family to feed… It’s a story that is becoming WAY too common these days…

First let’s discuss what doesn’t work…

Get Paid Stuffing Envelopes at Home!

Have you ever wondered why a company would pay you $5, $10, or more to stuff an envelope when they have machines that will do it for much less, and much faster? That’s a great question! The answer is that they don’t. But then why does their ad say that they do? What’s the catch?

Here’s how it all goes down:

You “get hired” to stuff envelopes for the XYZ Corp…

XYZ sends you their sales literature…

And then…

Well, here’s where it gets tricky. You need to know where to send the stuffed envelopes, but XYZ hasn’t given you any addresses or mailing labels. You have to buy those.

OK… so what’s wrong with that? For starters, the list they’ll sell you is worthless. It’s mostly filled with people just like you who have already “worked” for the XYZ Corp. The rest of the list is either old XYZ customers, or just plain outdated.

But once you have the list, you get to stuff the envelopes, right? Wrong!

You get paid only if some BUYS the product or service offered. Basically, you are working for commissions. Remember though, that your so-called “customer base” has already seen everything you have to offer. How many sales do you think you’ll generate? Right… not many! In fact, it’s safe to say you won’t get back your investment, since rarely does anyone make that much money.

But why would the XYZ Corp do this? Because they are playing to advertisers to pay them for “direct mail” services. XYZ Corp. gets paid by the advertisers and by you!

OK… but what about…

Get Paid for Processing Orders at Home – You Don’t Call Them, They Call You!

Once again, why would XYZ Corp. pay you $39 to process an order, when they can pay an in-house service rep $8 an hour to do the same job? Because YOU ARE GOING TO PAY FOR THE ADS!

What?

That’s right! You are going to take orders from those who have seen YOUR AD in the media. That means you aren’t calling customers, but you will be paying for the advertising to get them to call you. This would be OK, except that there are thousands of people ALREADY running those ads. This built-in competition does nothing for your sales, but gets XYZ Corp’s products in front of a LOT of eyes.

Get Paid for Setting Appointments at Home – No Sales!

This should be obvious. You do the cold calling based on a list you may be required to purchase from XYZ Corp. Otherwise, you open the phone book and start dialing. The “leads” you generate will then be sent to XYZ Corp. If they get sales from your leads, you may get paid for them. If there is anything about the lead that violates the apocryphal “company policy,” you may out of luck. Of course, poor record-keeping by XYZ Corp. may cause you to lose commissions as well.

And if any of the people you call are on the “Do Not Call List,” and they file a complaint, guess who pays the fine? XYZ Corp. didn’t place the call did they? Bingo!

What Else Doesn’t Work:

Anything that requires to you buy a Mailing List – These lists are recycled, reused, outdated, and worthless. Just say no!

Investing in “Penny Stocks” – Say XYZ Corp. has company stock worth 3 cents. You get a mailing that points out how XYZ Corp. is on the verge of massive growth, and how you can profit quickly from buying now at such a rock-bottom price. Apple Computers once had stock worth pennies, they’ll tell you. And you see the obvious profit potential. You buy at 3 cents, and when the stock hits 30 cents you can sell and realize a 1000% profit! Right?

Wrong! The stock isn’t worth 3 cents. The person who is selling you these 3 cent stocks purchased them for 1 cent (actually much less, but the math is easier this way) and by promoting the “inevitable” growth has since tripled his money. Once the scam runs it’s course, the true value of the stock becomes apparent, and your “investment” is gone.

Investing in Forex – Slightly better the above “investment,” except that you must realize that investing of this sort carries GREAT risk! Sure you can make a fortune in an instant, but you can lose one too. Bear in mind that every transaction you make is going to come with broker fees that will either further drain your bank account, or cut deeply into your profits. Unless you are prepared to spend 24 hours each day studying the markets, or can afford to hire a staff, my suggestion would be to STAY AWAY!
